Default Archiving from Exchange Mailbox to PST file ?

After having probs with exchange I am trying to archive out some of the
large mailboxes (3 - 400Mb) on the exchange box to PST files.

OK, Win Ser 2003 - Exch 2003 - Outlook XP

I attached the large mailbox to my outlook and used the Archive feature from
Outlook's file menu. I set a date filter that i knew contained data ( i re
checked this) .

here is what happened

It created all of the folder structure of the Exchange Mailbox (quite
extensive) in the PST file but did NOT copy any of the items.

Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong or another tool to use???

I'll probably need to do this on a regular basis so the date filter seemed
perfect, but alas, a problem...

Thanking you all.

My guess if that, in fact, the date filter you chose was not one that
contained data. Archiving works on the Modified date value, not the
Received date value. Add the Modified date to the view and see if it is
more recent than the archival date you chose.
