Have you checked with the provider to see if they're having any issues with
their server? "DB" wrote in message ... I can't seem to recieve pop3 e-mail messages. I get the following error: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. If not, that tells you it's the server's problem. If you can, then make sure you disable any mail scanning by your antivirus program by completely uninstalling the mail scanning feature. -- Brian Tillman |

If you can check mail using mail2web.com, then the server isn't likely to be
having problems. My guess is that you have antivirus software that is grabbing any port 110 traffic and scanning it. As far as your mail program is concerned it connected to the server, but it hasn't received anything because the virus scanner isn't functioning properly and downloading mail, scanning it, and delivering it to the mail client. Check your antivirus options to disable scanning of incoming messages, then open your mail client and try downloading again. This can be particularly bothersome if you're on a slow internet connection and have a large file attachment on the way, as most AV scanners download the whole file to scan, then send it on to the mail client (where if you were actually getting it directly from the server the connection wouldn't be "idle" as you'd be getting a little bit of data at a time). If you're not running antivirus software that scans incoming email, then another possibility is a corrupted pop3uidl file in Outlook Express (if that's what you're using). Try closing Outlook Express and then searching your C: drive for this file. Rename it to something else (like pop3uidl.old) then open Outlook Express again. "DB" wrote in message ...
