Hi,
OUTLOOK2003 pst file would load in about 2 seconds. I just installed OUTLOOK2007 and it takes up to 15 seconds to load the pst data file. Have I got a setting out of whack someplace? Thanks. -- Greg Maxey/Word MVP See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tips.htm For some helpful tips using Word. |

So far Outlook 2007 is much slower than Outlook 2003 for startup and some
send/receive operations. Hopefully to be improved whenever SP1 comes out. -- Ken Slovak [MVP - Outlook] http://www.slovaktech.com Author: Absolute Beginner's Guide to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Reminder Manager, Extended Reminders, Attachment Options http://www.slovaktech.com/products.htm "Greg Maxey" wrote in message ... Ken,
Thanks. I was just coming back to report that I had archived the pst folder and reduced the size by about 200%. It now loads in about 4 seconds. -- Greg Maxey/Word MVP See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tips.htm For some helpful tips using Word. "Ken Slovak - [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... Interesting, I have a 4 gig .pst file and it loads (with all of the add-ins as well) in about 5 seconds.

Actually I spoke to soon. If I start OUTLOOK after using other applications
then it is still taking 10-12 seconds to fully load the application. If I close down OUTLOOK and immediately restart then it takes 4-5 seconds. How did you know that I scratched my head furiously before asking? ;-) -- Greg Maxey/Word MVP See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tips.htm For some helpful tips using Word. Yeah it is! But, I suspect a less mystical explanation is that we have both
been lurking in the various MS newsgroups long enough to know that we try not to ask questions lightly. Still about now, I would swap about all I know about Word for about half you know about OUTLOOK ;-) -- Greg Maxey/Word MVP See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tips.htm For some helpful tips using Word. another suggestion i might add, slap 4g ram in your box and just keep
outlook loaded on your notification area of the taskbar. thus avoiding having to keep relaunching, won't matter if it takes 5 or 15 sec to load in any case. now, if office team or some 3rd party could just add 1 more function to the X or closing button to force it to minimize to tray that would rock even better. its all about UI isn't it? aloha, orbii "Greg Maxey" wrote in message ...
