OK, here we go.
Whenever I log onto Outlook and do a send & receive, the status bar shows, for example, "receiving 1 of 5". It then proceeds to progress through the receipt of the five e-mails and finishes. However, when completed, there is no mail in my Inbox! It's not in any other folders either. It's just not there!! I have no rules in to send mail to a folder, and when I log onto the web service, there are no e-mails there, so I can only assume that they are being delivered. Yet, there's nothing in my Inbox. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. It has only recently started happening. The only thing I did was set up an additional mail profile, under XP, for a totally different e-mail address. When I logon to Outlook, it prompts me for the profile. If I select the secondary profile, the new one recently created, the only mail that gets delivered there is the mail for that profile. However, if I log onto the main profile, which has always been there and has worked OK, mail gets delivered, but just dissapears. Can someone help me? Have I lost these e-mails or is there some way I can get them back? Anyones help is appreciated. TIA Duncs |

Sorry, I should have provided more information.
I'm using Outlook 2003. When I load Outlook, it does an automatic Send / Receive. The status bar shows, for example, "Receiving message 1 of 8", which then changes to "Receiving message 2 of 8", and so on until all 8 are delivered. However, when the delivery is complete, the 8 messages are nowhere to be found. They do not appear in my inbox, or in the unread messages folder. They're just not there. Do you have any applications that scan your incoming mail, sich as antivirus or -spam scanners? If so, disable them. Also, see if startiing Outlook in safe mode changes the behavior. -- Brian Tillman |

Brian,
My anti-virus software scans incomming mail, but it always has done. However, I disabled this part of it, and e-mails are still disapearing. By "Starting Outlook in Safe Mode", I take it you mean re-booting into Safe Mode and launching Outlook? If so, then I tried that it still disappears. I did not however realise, that you could start Outlook in "Safe" mode. So, I will try that tonight when I get home, and let you know how it goes. Many thanks for your help so far.
