Windows Live Local Add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

I installed this plugin and am running into a weird condition. When I
open an appointment, the new "location" tab is present, but there is a
message indicating I need to install the Add-in. Of course, I already
have-- and this is confirmed by its presence in Add/Delete Programs,
but to no avail. I have uninstalled/reinstalled-- and this problem is
consistent across every install.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I have the exact same problem. Installed on another machine and it works
fine. What seems to happen on the other machine is that when after
installing Live and then opening Outlook 2003, I can see Live installing for
a brief moment. Whereas, on the other machine, this just does not happen.

When I go to ToolsOptionsOtherAdvanced OptionsCOM Add-Ins, Live Local is
there but I just cannot place a check mark next to it to have it start on
opening Outlook.

Any solutions?

Thanks.

I just figured it out.

Howie, in Outlook go to HelpDisabled Items. There you should see something
about blah blah blah being disabled as it caused Outlook to blah blah. It
will have "leoaddinshim.dll" in it. Enable it and see what happens.

I Enabled it even though I had already uninstalled Live Local. Then I
reinstalled Live Local and now have it working. I make sure that I elevated
my privileges to an Admin before installing.

Hope this helps,
Robert

Robert,

Thanks for your replies and I am happy to learn you got yours going.
Unfortunately, I was not as fortunate. I enabled the .dll file you
referenced, reinstalled Live Local, and Outlook just hangs. The only
way I can start/use it is to disable the Live Local plugin. Something
must be awry with the .dll installation as the Live Local plugin is
reported as installed on Add/Remove Programs.

I wound up uninstalling again and cleaned things up by "re-enabling"
that .dll (although it was irrelevant as I had uninstalled).

It is times like these I really hate the Windows OS... I'm sure the
advise from MS-- even at $35-- would be to reinstall Windows-- the
ultimate panacea for them. :-(

Regards,

Howie, sorry to hear you are still having problems.

Solutions:

1) Check your Firewall as Live Local has to go out on TCP Out port 80
(windowslivelocal.com, intl.local.live.com vicinity.com and others) to
receive the maps.

2) You have to allow IDS "WEB-CLIENT Javascript URL host spoofing attempt"
inbound 65.55.241.11 for it to work.

3) Check to make sure that in ToolsOptionsOtherAdvanced OptionsCOM
Add-Ins that Windows Live Local for Outlook is checked.

Good luck,
Robert

As for me, I have the COM plugin disabled until I need it. I don't want Outlook to go out on Port 80... Live Local requires to many IP's to work properly.

I just wanted to make it work!
