Default MS Office 2003 always looking for MSWORD (looking a long, long time

I have MSOffice 2003 Pro and when I want to send a message out of Outlook,
it comes up with a window looking "forever" for MSWord.. It takes so long
that I never waited to the end.

I re-installed MSOffice 2003, also used the Repair action, all went well,
but there is no change. It still keeps on looking for MSWord. It IS
installed, I can see it under My Programs and then under MSOffice 2003.

This program has worked fine in the past but I installed it on a new HP
computer. Installation went fine, except I have the above trouble.

What in the world can cause this?

What happens if you disable Word as the mail editor?

Have not tried this, but before it always worked. Same software, only
slightly faster CPU.

But I will try and post back what happens.

I saw that for some reason MSWord was not selected when I looked at accounts
in IE. I selected it and it seems to be ok now.

'Tools|Options|Mail Format', check or uncheck the "Use Microsoft Office Word
2003 to edit e-mail messages" checkbox.

I am not sue this would fix the problem, but it is worth a try --

Open Outlook. go to Tools, Options, Mail Format. Uncheck Use Microsoft
Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages.

Good Luck!
