Default Toolbar button - need to modify behavior

We have an application ( App-A ) that integrates itself into Outlook. It adds a toolbar to Outlook
with multiple buttons. One of the buttons take the current email that is open and moves the data
over to App-A.

Is it possible to modify what actions a custom toolbar like this does?

Sure, if you have the source code for it, and some programming knowledge.
Was this supplied by a vendor, or written in-house?

I'm a developer, but haven't done any toolbar development. This is a 3rd-party add-on and we don't
have the source. My hope was that toolbar button code was stored in a script file somewhere that I
could modify. If this isn't true, then I'm probably SOL.
