Wondering if anyone has this same issue...
Using Outlook 2003 SP2/Exchange 5.5 if a .msg is read-only and you double-click it the error "You don't have the appropriate permission to perform this operation" is raised. Uncheck the read-only attribute and it works fine. This is not consistant and I can open read-only .MSG files on other PCs Any ideas? Thanks, Vic |

Opening a read only msg file shouldn't be a problem. Does the msg file
contain attachments? Or do you have macro's running in your Outlook? It seems your Outlook would like to change the msg file (the e-mail). How did you save the e-mail as msg file? Did you use drag&drop, MailToFile, File|SaveAs or another method? schreef: Wondering if anyone has this same issue... No attachments just a plain msg file with a short subject and no body,
no macros or add-ins. It is strange but it happens. I create the message, click "Save As..", marked as read-only then tried to open it, that's all it takes. Me as well having no troubles opening msg files that are read-only.
Maybe you have an add-in loaded on Exchange or your Outlook trying to access / manage the e-mail? Because the e-mail is read only that action causes the error? Check Tools|Options to see which add-ins are loaded. Maybe you can uncheck them, to test the result? Brian Tillman schreef: wrote: Wondering if anyone has this same issue...
