Outlook "Takes over" as default email editor
If you can open Outlook check the settings in the Tools menu Options
command Other tab and see if its set to be the default. "smackedass" wrote in message news:zHLYg.1165$Dg5.727@trndny09... Hello, I did a quick Google search for this one, but there didn't seem to be anything too conclusive, so here I am, back at the "horse's mouth"...this just may be a "live with", I don't know. My computer runs Windows XP HE SP2. I use Outlook Express 6 as my email program. I also have installed Office 2003, which, of course, includes Outlook. I don't really use Outlook, other than as an evaluation tool. From time to time, after a reboot, Outlook "takes over" as default email program. I'll click on the email icon, which actually is the Outlook Express icon, and Outlook will open. Then I just go to Set Program Access and Defaults, and set it back to OE, but I can't think of any good reason why this should be happening, and it happens approx. once a month or so. It's happened to 2 of my customers, also. What gives? Is there any way to obviate this minor annoyance? Any replies are muchly appreciated. |

Well, waita second, is there any documentation or evidence to suggest that that one will trump the OS choice? Logic would suggest otherwise, OS defaults usually trump an applications. Ken |

Outlook "Takes over" as default email editor
it's a common problem after installing office updates. :( About the only
fix is to uninstall Outlook (use the custom options set up and only remove it). -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "smackedass" wrote in message news:zLMYg.473$cQ5.97@trndny06...
