Hello,
I am running Windows XP Pro. I am also running Outlook 2003. When I close Outlook there is STILL an icon in the bottom right corner showing Outlook. I get a message saying something about email exchange server.... I am unable to reopen Outlook unless I restart my computer. Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem. Thanks ahead of time.... |

are you using a PDA and syncing data? that is the most common cause.

Outlook still tries communicating with the server after its closed,
before the program is uploaded from memory. If you check in task manager, and look under processes, you will see outlook will still be running, if you end that task. Then try to open Outlook it will open. Then you need to figure out why its hanging on close. I have seen this a number of times and its generally been different, sometimes messages that are pending delivery or AV checks can cause this. Or os the other post, any syncronisation software could cause problems. You could try to see what Outlook is doing by right clicking on the outlook icon in the system tray while holding Ctrl, click the option that says "Connection Status", this will show you what connections Outlook has open. Hope this helps. |
