With outlook 2003 I do most of my work in a limited rights user account. Can
I access the same contacts file (outlook pst) in both admin right account and limited rights account? I need to sync with an old handpring visor that only works in admin account but I want to then use that same address book or contacts file in my limited account. Can I do the same with email, so that even If I get email from the admin account, it will appear seamlessly in the limited rights account. please advise Playing around a bit I see that I can add a second pst file with contacts into the admin accoutn which is the same as the limited rights file, but then have the original default pst file that cannot be deleted alan |

Sure, if you're using a PSt and you locate that PST in a folder with permissions for both accounts. In the limited account, with Outlook closed, move the PST to a shared folder, like a subfolder of Shared Documents. Start Outlook and when it complains it can't find the folders, you should get a browse window that will allow you to browse to the PST in the shared folder, select it, and click OK. Outlook will start and appear as before. Close it and log out of the limited account. Log into the administrator account and with Outlook closed, rename the PST that Outlook uses, then start Outlook. When it complains, browse to the shared folder PST. Outlook will open and you'll see the same information the limited account sees. -- Brian Tillman Playing around a bit I see that I can add a second pst file with contacts into the admin accoutn which is the same as the limited rights file, but then have the original default pst file that cannot be deleted alan |

I have done as you suggest and yes, the contacts folder is seen by both limited and admin user accounts. I do have 2 other contact folders in admin account that say they cannot be opene ( they seem to be deleted) - not sure why that is. also, for some reason I can sych from computer to handheld but not the other way around, even changing the conduit instructions. not sure why that is. but will work later this weekend to try again. I feel I am close to solution - issue might be not related to outlook though alan "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... Thanks. I went back and found there was a .dat file that also needs to go into the directory along with the pst file to avoid issues. I am set now. Also I was able to keep the pst file in My documents, in the limited user account, and just link the owners accoun to that same file. The sych with handspring visor seems to be ok. Also, I set up same email account in owners page so that I can occasionally send mail out when I am in that account - and all the mail ends up in the same file. Perfect. Thanks for you help - greatly appreciated alan "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ...
