Outlook & Exchange 2003 Permissions
 

Just incase I missed this resolution....

I have an issue where I need to give access to an assistant to only ONE
subfolder in her managers mailbox/inbox (out of 50 ) and a few Contact
lists.

Can anybody let me know how to? I know how set permissions per folder,
but when I give acces through the server........you can see all of the
subfolders.

Any suggestions?

Then permissions are set too loosely elsewhere -- either on the individual folders, which you can check in Outlook -- or at the mailbox level, which you can check with ADU&C. In the scenario you describe, permission should be granted in Outlook -- reviewer for the folders to be viewed, and folder visible for their parent folders, put to the root.

You can't do this in Exchange. It's all or nothing at all. Take away the
Full Mailbox Rights you've evidently assigned, and have the manager set up
permissions in his/her own mailbox folders.

To see any folders other than the defaults one sees in file | open | other
user's folders, the "delegate" needs at least 'reviewer' rights to the root
of the other mailbox in Outlook. Then in the delegate's Outlook, go to the
properties of the Exchange server service, advanced tab, and add the other
mailbox there - it will now show up in their folder list.
