Default Outlook Checking Forcing sequential check of multiple pop accounts

I've been bouncing back and forth between outlook and outlook express
for quite a while now and I'd use outlook primarily except I'm getting
frustrated with how it handles send/receive for multiple POP accounts.

If I perform a general send and receive, even after semi limiting the
accounts through groups, the downloading of messages takes a long time.
I often run into problems where my connection to one of my servers is
reset and the ever dreaded problem of duplicate messages.

If I do a send/receive on a mailbox by mailbox basis, the downloads are
quick and I never seem to run into the reset problem.

Is there a way to force outlook to check accounts sequentially instead
of trying to check them all at once?

If you open the details window (send/receive in the task bar) you will see
that OL does actually perform this sequentially ie send then receive Account
1 then moves to Account 2 etc

When I look at the details window, I see outlook downloading mail from
multiple accounts at the same time. Outlook is not performing the
action sequentially. It does perform the send then receive
sequentially, but it performs the actions on multiple accounts
simultaneously.

You say it takes a long time, I have Outlook 2003 (stand alone installation)
check as many as 12 email accounts and it does not take very long and it
does not time out (my timeout is set at the default which is 1 minute.

What is your timeout and are you using an exchanger server or stand alone.

I have outlook in stand-alone mode checking pop accounts. No exchange
server. I suppose I shoudl quantify the "long time" as being 3 to 4
times as long as if I download each account individually.
