I hope someone can help me as this has become quite annoying. When I reply
to an email and type in my reply if I hit enter, I get a double space rather
than single. It only happens on reply and my regular email works just
fine... can someone suggest where I can look to fix this...

Thanks.

Outlook version? Message editor? What happens if you allow the reply to
word wrap rather than forcing a break? What happens if you use Ctrl+Enter?

What happens when you do NOT use Word as the e-mail editor?

Hi,

Outlook version is Outlook 2003, SP2. The message editor is Word ... and if
I allow the text to wrap it will go to single line. It only double spaces
when I hit enter. I opened a message and typed some text and hit Ctrl+Enter
and it sent the message ... ooooppppss...someone got a silly reply to a
message they sent me but that is ok. Does this help narrow down what may be
the cause of my double space when I hit enter...

Thanks.
Dave

What you describe is Words paragraphing style where additional space is
added to delineate paragraphs. This is a Word issue so ask in a Word group
on how to change the paragraph style (something to do with setting the
spacing between paragraphs). There really is no additional spacer line
between the paragraphs. Word is just making bigger the whitepace between
the consecutive lines.

You are right ... when I turn Word off as the editor then the double space
issue is no longer there. When I use Word on its own this issue is not
apparent as well...so it has something to do with the link as the email
editor. Interesting... I will try to look at Word to figure out what is
taking place.

Thanks
Dave

More likely is that Word is using extra spacing between paragraphs. After
all, that is how it normally works. There is no extra line. The whitespace
between the lines (also configurable) is enlarged between the last and first
lines of paragraphs. It is the style you have defined in Word. Check with
the Word folks in their newsgroup for more info.
