Default Turn of autoarchive, remove extend.dat?

Hi,

I tried to find out what extend.dat exactly is and if I can remove it
safely or if I should keep it.

We currently have AutoArchive on and now we want to turn it off and
move back the files which are in the .pst file.

so once I done that I remove the .pst file but what about the
extend.dat file, should I remove it or keep it.

Im not 100% sure what all it does because I can't find much

TIA

you can delete it if you want. outlook will recreate it. :-)

It is 'a binary file that caches the registry extension entries.'

Default Turn of autoarchive, remove extend.dat?

Thanks for the information I got another question about autoarchive.

I want to do this:

1. Turn off AutoArchive
2. Open de .pst file
3. put back all items which were archived back to inbox/send items etc.

now my question is:

will the emails that I put back to inbox be ordered automatic by the
date they were received or will the Date change to today so the person
who im changing this for will have like another 100 emails in their
inbox from today?

I hope my answer is clear, not my first language
