OE and Hotmail: Authorization Error
Where do I find the User Authentication section ?
Rusty "Jim Pickering" wrote: None, but the Hotmail servers are notoriously "flakey." Similar errors with a non paid account are what caused me to stop attempting to use the integration with Outlook Express and instead use only the web interface. If it's not a paid account, you may expect continuing errors in the future and I don't think Hotmail has any interest in improving the service for its non paying customers. Although you might want to recheck that your settings are all in agreement with the following: In Internet Explorer (not Outlook Express), click on the Tools/Internet Options/Security, and click on the appropriate zone from above (Internet or Restricted). Click on Custom, and scroll all the way down to the bottom (User Authentication). If OE is set to use the Internet Zone, then the User Authentication section should say "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone". If OE is set to use the Restricted zone, then the User Authentication section should say "Prompt for user name and password". -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. "gc" wrote in message ... I've already add it to my safe sites, and the problem has been going on for atleast a month now, so I don't think that it's a server problem. Any other ideas? Often, just closing Outlook Express, reopening it and trying again solves the problem. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Authorization Required', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 87, Error Number: 0x800CCC32 This is an old account that had been working fine up until recently. Then one day this happened. Any ideas? Thanks. |
