Do you have a lot of people on your blocked sender list? I believe that
OE has a limit of 500 or something.

If the message header is highlighted, and you still see a grayed out Blocked
Sender option, two possibilities come to mind.

A): You may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity.
Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages
from the old identity and delete it.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209169

B): The registry key has become corrupt.

1.. In Regedit, navigate to this key:

|--HKEY_CURRENT_USER
|-----Identities
|--------{GUID}
|-----------Software
|--------------Microsoft
|-----------------Outlook Express
|--------------------5.0

where GUID is the Global Unique IDentifier for your Identity.

2.. Under that key, you will find the following sub-keys, among
others:

|-----------------------Block Senders
|-----------------------Rules
|-----------------------Signatures

Select the Block Senders Key and delete it. Blocked Senders will be empty,
but you can rebuild it now.

That said, IMHO, you are better off using Message Rules rather than Blocked
Senders. BS is less reliable and it will only send mail to Deleted Items. A
message rule can delete a message from the server so you never see it.

If you are trying to block spam using Blocked senders, it is a waste of time
as they continuously change their addresses.

FYI: you can have a total of 4,096 *entries* in Blocked Senders and Mail and
News rules combined.

Bruce,
thanks, i have some major problems here in that a couple of years ago with
the help(?) of the Dell service desk, i reloaded my ME OEM over the original.
The OS(explorer) has been erratic since. I've been reading Noel Patton's
eraticators method & reload of IE. I'm not that computer savy to do all
that, so maybe it's time for a repair shop. Thanks again for the help.

With the message selected, take a look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3).
Make sure that there is a FROM header and that it has a valid e-mail
address.

The general format of a from header would be wither:

From: "friendly name"
or
From:
