Error messages when sending photo

I have WinXP, OE6, and the last couple of days I've been getting Error
Number 0X800CCC0F when I try to send an attached photo. Hard drive was
formatted recently, but I've sent photos quite a few times since then, and
even occasionally yesterday or today, the photos WILL send.

Please post the error message in its entirety. You can left click on it to
highlight and then right click to copy and then paste it into this thread.

How large is the entire e-mail? Is e-mail scanning enabled?

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and
causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes
and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V
program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program
and reinstall in Custom Mode and opt out of e-mail scanning when the option
arises.

Well of course now it is sending OK (for the moment)! I did exit OE and go
in again; maybe that helped. If/when it does it again, I'll copy that whole
message and post it. The e-mail itself was very brief, and the photo wasn't
any more than 150 KB. Yes, I guess e-mail scanning is enabled. I'm using
Webroot Antivirus with Antispyware. I'd hate to have to uninstall and
reinstall because I have dial up and it would be SO slow. Taking a quick
look at its options, I don't know how to turn off e-mail scanning. Will
keep looking (and/or ask my computer man). Thanks.

Hint:

Whenever you download a program like your AV, Adobe, Spybot etc., do not
click Run. Click Save and save all your downloads to a dedicated folder. You
can back it up to CD for extra safety, but the major point is, you never
have to download it again, just install it. This makes dial-up a moot point.
Very handy to have all your downloads saved if you have to reformat too.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

And backup often.

Your problem may be the result of being on dialup. Sending files of that
size is sometimes successful and sometimes unsuccessful. It would help if
you kept the files small (80 kb for instance).
Also, some ISPs restrict the size of attachments to mail messages.
