Default How to use word as a message format along with a signature default

When I use Outlook (2000), I'm not able to use an automated signature option
when I have word as my outgoing mail to edit messages.

Signature picker will not allow me to access it once I check the “use MS
Word to edit e-mail messages” box.

I'm aware my default has a spell checker but doesn’t allow me to use my
autocorrect and short keys. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eric
