Hi
I hope some clever person out there can help me. I have a broadband cable connection with Virgin Media and Outlook Express 6 running on Vista. I have a PC & my partner has a laptop. We have separate email addresses. I connected his laptop through a router, so that he gets his email & I get mine - this worked well for some time. However, now he's getting all of mine as well as his. I wasn't getting any at all so I tried disconnecting everything and starting again. Now, he still gets my emails but at least I get them as well. I have never had the problem the other way round, ie I never get his emails. How can I get back to how it was - his for him, mine for me. Thanks Gran |

Hi Gran,
Outlook Express 6 does not run in Windows Vista. You need to check your Partner's E-mail Program and make sure that your E-mail Account is not listed on his computer. If so, delete it. -- thecreator "Padgett" wrote in message ... Hi I hope some clever person out there can help me. Sorry, my mistake. I should have said that I'm running Windows Mail.
I've tried looking for my email account on his computer but it isn't listed. Any more ideas? Gran "thecreator" wrote in message ... Hi Gran, Outlook Express 6 does not run in Windows Vista. Are both of your e-mail accounts with your ISP? If both the e-mail
addresses feed into a single server account, that could cause the issue. But you should have noticed that from the start, unless your ISP has made recent changes. Windows Vista Mail Newsgroup: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail You can also get to the newsgroup via this web site: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.mspx There select Windows Vista, then Windows Mail. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Padgett" wrote in message ... Hi Padgett,
Look to see if the problem isn't on the Web, itself, especially if you went on vacation, recently. Check your Web Email Account settings. Are your E-mails being forwarded to your partners' Email Account? -- thecreator "Padgett" wrote in message ... Sorry, my mistake. I should have said that I'm running Windows Mail. I have a PC & my partner has a laptop. We have separate email addresses. Are the addresses aliases for the same mailbox? If your email addresses are all "aliases" for one mailbox, you'll still need Message Rules when using separate Identities/Log-ons (neither of which are really necessary). Most families (an intentionally all-encompassing term) will have one Mail Account with their one ISP subscription ($$/month for all). Most ISPs provide you with multiple Addresses for the Mail Account (e.g., , , etc.) but all of them "point" to the one mailbox. As such, you will need to use Message Rules so that only mail addressed to them is downloaded into their Inbox. The following refers to two addresses, but you should be able to follow it and amend for three or more if need be. and are aliases for one Mail Account (mailbox). In the User Account & machine associated with (e.g., yours), create a Message Rule stating, "Where To or CC contains , Do not download it from the server" and place this rule at the very top of the list. Then create a similar rule for the User Account & machine associated with (e.g., your partner's) directing any messages addressed to not to be downloaded from the server. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Padgett wrote: I hope some clever person out there can help me. I did as advised and created a message rule on the laptop - don't download
messages from the server that are addressed to my PC. So now I get my messages and my partner gets just his messages and not mine as well. It seems obvious now but I'm a slow learner so I was very grateful for the help. "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ...
