Default Lost Group Addresses - Can I get them back ?

Excellent news and you're welcome, Bubey.

Can you tell me please what version MS Office/Outlook is installed (e.g.,
Office 2000)?

Before I got this reply I opened the Nancy.wab book and did an import to a
CSV file so I could save
all the information in Excel. While there I looked at the Icons at the
top,
Tools and then Options.
It showed it was set to "share" between Outlook and other application. So
I
check on the "do not share".
Closed it up and went to Outlook Express. All the lost files are now
there.

Thank You so much for all your help. Sorry I messed it up in the
beginning,
and for reply to both you
and Ron within the same note. Thought it would be easier so you could
both
see the reply. Again,
thanks for all your time and patience with this problem...

Thanks, that explains why OE Tools | Options dropdown menu included the
"Share with Outlook" option. (It wouldn't be there if you had a newer
version of Office installed.)

Thanks for the info PA Bear. Wish I could afford a newer version, but I
don't use it that much, so 2000 has to work.
P.S.....I was able to download all my OE address books into CSV files so
I've got them all now and backed up all my messages. I was thinking maybe
it's best I just re-install IE 6 and Outlook Express 6. and just start over.
Hopefully that will get rid of any other gremlins that might be hiding.

I shouldn't bother. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Reinstalling IE6 and OE6 seldom, if ever, addresses any gremlins. Switching
to a new Named Identity usually addresses OE gremlins, assuming you adhere
to our frequently posted caveats.

I'm getting so worn out with this mess. It's amazing how such
a little thing like compacting and Outlook can make such a big
mess. I'm not working on why when I click on a shortcut the
search page opens. Back to my books and the internet.

So just to make sure, by
"identities" you mean the one I set up as an Outlook Express one?
No problem for to change those.

Thanks PA Bear !

Request: NEVER refer to Outlook Express as "Outlook," please, Bubey.

...I'm not working on why when I click on a shortcut the

Begin a new thread in this IE-specific newsgroup about the problem:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general

In your very first post, state your Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP2) and IE
version (e.g., IE6).

...So just to make sure, by
"identities" you mean the one I set up as an Outlook Express one?

I mean exactly what's listed in OE File | Identities | Manage Identities |
Identities. If you currrent identity's working OK, leave well enough alone.
