FAST wizard, FASTconv.exe Need to extract dbx files
OS WinXp Pro
I have used the 'File and settings transfer wizard' (start All progs Accessories System tools) to collect my data from Outlook Express (and perhaps some others - can't remember). Anyway. Now I've come to import the file onto a clean hard drive and OS, it won't import. (I don't want to explore why it won't import, as I've already wasted too much time on that route) So. I'm now left with two files from the export, one being IMG00001.DAT (approx size 50M). After various searches it would appear MS used to provide a small prog (you had to request it) with the file name of FASTconv.exe (runs in DOS) which verifies the DAT file integrity (by using various switches - no I'm not that clever, I copied and pasted instructions I found to verify my data) and exports the data as separate data files. Although the data is there, its not in an instantly useable format. Does anyone know of a way to just export the dbx files, so I can do a more conventional way to import my messages in to Outlook Express? I look forward to any help anyone can give, so thanks in advance. :o) John. PS I'm based in the UK (on dialup, not BB) and would consider using a data recovery company at a sensible price who have worked on the above files before. I have spoken to several today who didn't convince me that they knew anything of the above files. |
