Corrupt folder names
I have just re-installed Windows XP Pro on a machine that was configured as
Greek. OE store folder was saved on a spare disk while this was happening. Once all was OK, I pointed OE at the store folder and got everything back. However, the standard folders (Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Drafts, Deleted Items) had gibberish names, as did the Local Folders. I found Tom Koch's excellent & very helpful paper on File Corruption in OE, and following his advice, I managed to get everything named properly. EXCEPT for Deleted Items!!! Although I can see references in folders.dbx to Deleted Items.dbx, the folder name in OE still shows as gibberish. Emails that I delete go correctly into this folder, so it's all working fine, but the name is not right. Any ideas welcome! |

Was a Greek-language version of WinXP installed previously and is it still a
Greek-language version? 1. Write down the location of the message store (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). 2. Close OE. 2. Delete the file Deleted Items.dbx from the message store. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.org/ Laurie Canham wrote: I have just re-installed Windows XP Pro on a machine that was configured as Greek. Yes, it was a "pirate" Greek-language version from a Greek dealer. Now it's
a genuine English-language version. I'll try deleting Deleted Items.dbx again. "PA Bear" wrote in message ... I ended up deleting all the standard .dbx files (Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items,
Deleted Items, Draft) AND the Folders.dbx file. When OE restarted, all was well. Thanks for the advice. "Laurie Canham" wrote in message ...
