I am updating my address book. In doing that, I removed some sub-folders
that were underneath the main (Jack's Contacts). One sub-folder removed was Kinfolks, but I left a group that was named Kinfolks. In updating that group, I copied the appropriate addresses over from Jack's Contacts. Now, I'm trying to once again create a Kinfolks sub-folder, but OE is not letting me do that. I keep getting a pop-up that says, "An entry with this name already exists in your address book." I've compacted all folders, and rebooted the pc but still get the same results. How do I overcome this problem? I used to have both a sub-folder and a group with the name "Kinfolks." Jack |

Winston,
The folders I am talking about are folders created in the Address Book, so they do not show up in the OE store folder. Jack ----------------------------- "...winston" wrote in message ... Hello Jack,
Perhaps using "Show All Contents" view will help in locating the problem. Open the address book by choosing Start on desktop, on it's menu select Programs, on it's expanding menu select Accessories, on it's expanding menu choose Address Book. In the Address Book dialog window choose File, on it's menu choose Show All Contents. Hope this helps, Ken "Jack B" wrote in message ... | I am updating my address book. Ken,
Very interesting. However, there is no "Kinfolks" folder that shows up, although the Kinfolks group does show up in other identities, including identities that have been deleted from OE. I wonder if I delete those identities from the Address Book it will cause a problem. Maybe I'll just delete an address or two from those old identities and see if it affect my current usage. Jack,
From your reply it appears to me there may be corruption in the address book. Hope one of the experts who monitor this news group step in to help. Before you do anything be sure the address book is backed up. It is quite simple to create a new address book. Be aware groups do not import from back-up. There is a solution for this, that's why I hope one of the experts step in. Perhaps deleting those other identities that have been deleted from OE will correct the problem. You can try this ....ymmv..
Open the Address book and first make sure that View/Folders and Groups is checked Export the contents of the main address book(Main Identities Contact) to a csv file(File\Export\Other Address Book) Search for you address book(*.wab) then rename your Address book file(e.g addywab.old, then start over with a blank address book, create the subfolder, then import the csv file. - write down the name of the orginal. If it doesn't work, you can delete the newer and rename the earlier renamed back to the original name. ..winston "Jack B" wrote in message ... : Winston, : : The folders I am talking about are folders created in the Address Book, so : they do not show up in the OE store folder. : : : Jack : ----------------------------- : : : : "...winston" wrote in message : ... : After deleting the folder in OE,did you delete the like named Dbx file in : the OE store folder. : ...winston : : "Jack B" wrote in message : ... ::I am updating my address book.
