Default File-Import-News Account Settings... exists but "...Export..." not?!

I wanted to save the list of all news groups in an OE news account folder
so I can retrieve it later in a new installation of IE / OE.
I noticed that "File-Import-News Account Settings..." exist, hoping that
those "...Settings..." include all groups I subscribed to under one news
account folder. But then, I noticed that "File-Export-" does not incl. a
comparable export of the "News Account Settings...". This looks odd.

Anyway, any idea how to save the above, and preferably all OE settings,
so it can be retrieved latter?

Thanks,
David

Default File-Import-News Account Settings.. More info

In the meanwhile, I also found some more bizarre stuff. The folder
C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{08F207F4-32E0-4268-98CA-7F30F4B05FD1}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\
contains a bunch of .DBX files, whose name correspond to a PARTIAL
list of the news groups I subscribe to.
Too weird phenomenon were observed.
1.
I could not find it using Windows Explorer, which does not reveal anything
underneath folder {08F207F4-32E0-4268-98CA-7F30F4B05FD1}!.
Note that in Windows Explorer- Tools-Folder Options I set the
options to show everything.
It was a none MS explorer, called ExplorerXP, that showed me those files,
following a Windows' search that did list those files.

Anybody knows what is going on here?

2.
The number of the revealed files is only about ONE THIRD of all news
groups I subscribed to !

Anybody knows what is going on here? What about the other 2/3 of groups?
Where are they saved?

Again, if someone knows how to backup those and all other OE settings,
such that I can restore it later, I would not mind to pass on all the above
mentioned details.

Thanks,
David

You can save newsgroup settings, but you have to clone your identity to save
the groups themselves. Otherwise, you will have to resubscribe to each.

Backing up and Cloning your OE Identities:
http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com/backup/clone.htm

As far as what you see in the message store folder, old newsgroups will
remain there until you delete the dbx files, unlike folders where dbx files
will disappear once you close OE.

Work on this first and post back for additional help.

Check your ISP's website and see if the information is listed there. If
not, then contact your ISP.

In the future, please start your own new post if your question is not
relevant to a current thread.

If you want to use your ISP as a news server, call them and ask what the
settings are. We couldn't even guess.

If you are only interested in MS newsgroups, then forget using your ISP as a
news server and use MSNews.

The solution for Outlook Express was great.
Is there a similar solution for Outlook?
I use OE only for newsgroups. I use Outlook 2000 (on W2K+SP4)
for email & calendar. A similar solution for Outlook would be great.

Thanks,
David

Outlook and Outlook Express are entirely different programs. You will get
better help in an MS Outlook newsgroup:

Many thanks for the super fast feedback.
I opened here a new thread on the same subject, not being sure
when you will get this old thread posting. So you can ignore the
new one and I'll follow your suggestions here.
