Hash sign instead of pound sign!
Any idea what is causing this? It only seems to be on Outlook Express as I
have installed the Windows Live Mail Desktop and that seems OK. TIA |

You are going to need to be more specific.
What exactly is happening, and where. The # has several names including hash sign and pound sign. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_sign Or by pound sign are you referring to the symbol for British money? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Nel" wrote in message ... Hash sign instead of pound sign!

Basically, every message that had a pound sign (£) was showing to me as a hash (#) sign. Don't know what caused this as I had never tampered with any settings! Got it back to normal after shuffling the font & international settings a few times, although strangely it did take a few attempts back and forth to get it to work - and during this process I also 'lost' text from within the 'from' column!! (All new newsgroup posts showed a blank entry in this column). Everything seems to have settled down now though! |

Your blank From column may have been related to the other problem. The
usual fix for the blank from is Tools, Options, Read, Fonts, Western European (ISO) for the default encoding. Using an incorrect encoding (either you or the send of the message) could cause problems with your pound signs. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Nel" wrote in message ...
