Default "Send Mail" error message when emailing Web page image

I am no longer able to send a Web page image (picture) in an email. When I
right click on a picture on a Web page and select "E-mail Picture...," I
receive a "Send Mail" message that states, "The current document type can not
be sent as mail. Would you like to send a shorcut instead? Yes/No" I can send
picture as a link (shortcut) but not as a picture. I am running Windows XP
SP2, IE6, and OE6. I haven't made any changes to the Options in OE6 or IE6.
This error just started occurring today.

Can someone tell me how to correct this error?

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year to all!

I don't think that solution matches his problem. He *can* use OE from
a webpage, he 'just' can't use it to send pictures, but he *can* send a
shortcut.

FWIW, I also encounter that problem with *some* webpages, mostly when
I try to send the *page* (i.e. not just some picture) by e-mail. I.e.
in IE: File - Send - Page by E-mail... . When it happens, I work
around it by saving the page in a file (File - Save As... Save as type:
Web Archive, single file (*.mht)) and then mailing the file.

Can you provide a link to a sample page where you have that problem and
which image has the problem? There may be something about the HTML
coding that causes the problem.

And do you get the prompt about resizing the image when you try that?
What about if you right click an image saved to your hard disk and
select Send to, Mail Recipient?

Sure, I can provide a link where I have encountered the problem of
right-clicking on a picture and selecting "E-mail Picture..." The link is
www.snoopy.com. When I right click on the comic strip and select "E-mail
Picture...," I receive the message that I stated in my original post. This
problem now occurs on every Web page with photos, if I try to email the photo
as I have described. I never used to have this problem with emailing pictures
the way I just described, until 2 days ago. I used to get the prompt about
resizing the photo before mailing and I would always select "don't resize." I
have no problem saving the picture to my HD, and then sending it to a
recipient.

Default Problem Solved!

I just wanted to say a big "Thank you" to all of you who offered help
concerning this problem I was experiencing in trying to send a picture/image
from a Web site. Thanks to PA Bear's suggestion, I was able to find the
correct solution to this problem. The solution was this:

START RUN then type in regsvr32 ole32.dll then press enter.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year in 2007!

Thanks again,
Dave

Default Problem Solved!

[Posting for archival purposes.]

Nice digging & YW!

= In one of the archived threads in the link I posted:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...8bc680ee7fb3e6

= cf. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889885

I still think it has something to do with the security-related defenses
first introduced in MS05-052 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896688). Why
this problem was seen before MS05-052 was released and why it doesn't affect
every user, I dunno.

Now let's see if we can remember this when we run into this again...
