Default Send fails trying to send *.wmv files.

I'm having trouble sending out Windows video files. I can receive them okay. But when I try to send one the send fails, times out, whatever. The progress bar goes so far and dies. Files may be in the range of 3 meg, but not always that large. My e-mail program is Outlook Express 6. The files seem to go out okay using the e-mail interface of my Internet provider, Worldnet. But they also seem to decompress and that means longer download time at the receiver's end. Would appreciate info on fixing Outlook Express to move these large video files. -- Gene Y.

Not sure what you mean buy Decompress, but........

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending, and causes a multitude
of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date
A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

Default Send fails trying to send *.wmv files.

There is a 30% increase in file size when you email it due to encoding. You might check the file sizes in the outbox and make sure they don't exceed the limit of your ISP and also the recipient's ISP. I personally hate it when I get files that size.

It would be better to place the files on a Web site and give the receiver
the option of downloading.
With files that big ( plus the 33 1/3 % encoding) you could easily overload
people's mailbox.

Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus.
Others have explained the files size increase and possible size limits by
your provider.
Send one to yourself and see if you receive it.
