My OS is Windows XP and my email program is Outlook Express version 6.

Is there a message rule that I can set up to allow me to stop receiving all
forwarded email? Some of my clueless friends and relatives insist on sending
me pages of jokes, political propaganda, or some religious junk. You
doubtlessly know the type. As I said, they are clueless and never seem to
know when to quit - even when politely asked to do so.

Anyway, I tried setting up a message rule that says when Fw: is in the
subject line of an incoming email - to delete it from the server. I tested
the rule by forwarded a message to myself. Unfortunately, the forwarded
message arrived in my inbox.

This was asked and answered in another group. If you feel you must post to
more than one group, please do not multi-post. Crosspost instead via New
Post | Tools | Select Newsgroups. This way if a post is replied to in one
group, it will also be replied to in the other group(s).

But even crossposting is seldom necessary since those of us that check
posts, do so in more than one newsgroup. Thank you.

I found the answer, thanks to someone on another forum.

The message rule I set up says that if the Subject line contains "FW:" or
"Fw:"
or "fw:" (without the quotes), then the incoming message is deleted from the
server and I won't ever even see it.

To make the rule work, I moved it to the top of the list.

Good riddance, forwarded email !!

You're turning down solid, well meant advice. Some newsgroups won't be so
kind as to explain things so well to you; instead you'll have so many flames
that even if you get an answer to your question, you likely won't be able to
find it.

Your arrogance shows a lack of respect for the groups that you ask for help
on and will seriously diminish future help you may ask for. Just remember
these words when it descends upon you and you'll understand.

Had you crossposted, others here may have been able to benefit from the
successful response you mentioned. Care to enlighten us?

I just deleted my first three responses to this because I am not supposed to
use 'nasty' words or say bad things about idiot posters.

Answer in newsgroup. Don't send mail.

The purpose of my thread was to find the solution to how to stop receiving
forwarded email. I found the answer and posted it for the benefit of others.

Then I get this silly follow-up to a (leading) question as to whether or not
I knew the difference between a forum and a newsgroup. The question and
follow-up had no relevance whatsoever to the original post, solved nothing,
and helped no one in any way whatsoever.

As I said, Get a life - and that includes you latter day naysayers.
