O E 6.0 opening 60 IE 6 windows
I'm running windows xp with all the current service packs. The problem is
clicking on a "mail to:" link on a website opens 60 IE windows and tells me that my default e mail client is not configured properly. It just started this and O E 6 will not remain the defalut e mail after I change the settings. I believe this is also preventing IE 7 from being installed. -- Everett |

Some third party programs that you install to prevent popups and ads can
cause this. Disable them and see if the problem goes away. The pop up blockers aren't on, so I tried following the link. I can't open
the mailto key. I get an "error while opening key" message. I can't rename it or delete it either. I did find out it is only on my user screen that this happens. -- Everett "Jim Pickering" wrote: Some third party programs that you install to prevent popups and ads can cause this. Are you logged on as the Administrator or does your user account have

Even in safe mode I am unable to open the mailto key. It does not have the
"+" symbol next to the icon. It won't even accept permission changes to the key. I've also tried every way to get OE 6 to be default, but it won't accept any of them. -- Everett "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM" wrote: Boot into Safe Mode as Administrator and try to make the Registry changes there. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Just highlight the mailto key in the left hand pane, then go to the right
hand pane and right click in a blank area, selecting New and String Value. Then enter: URL Protocol and exit regedit and reboot. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Windows Mail Apps https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.
