Default scrolling won't stop

When I try to change identities in Outlook Express 6 the highlighted line
just scrolls through all of the email accounts. It scrolls so fast that it
is hard for me to pick the account that I want to switch to.
What is going on? This just started today (after I signed up for verizon
DSL).
Can anyone help?

Thanks.
Tammy

Check that the mouse buttons are not stuck.

Also go to Windows Update and get the latest updates and see if that helps.

Hey Steve-

Thanks for your help but unfortunately that didn't help. It does act like
the mouse button is stuck except that the "change identity" screen in
outlook express is the only place that it acts like this.
I downloaded all of the suggested upgrades in Windows Update as well.
Any other suggestions?

On a different note, I saw where Microsoft has quit supporting Windows ME.
Do you know if I upgrade to Windows XP will I lose any settings, old email
in Outlook Express, or anything else?

Thanks again.
Tammy

Open Control Panel, click on Add/Remove Software and scroll for a program
called "Motive SmartBridge" and uninstall it. It's placed on your computer
if you install software from some ISPs to aid them in diagnosing connection
problems and it causes the "jerking" or rapid scrolling of the mouse. If
your ISP ever needs it again, it can be reinstalled for diagnosing and then
removed immediately thereafter.

If that is not the problem, then try using a different mouse that you know
works well on another computer and see if you can duplicate the problem.

An upgrade from Windows Millenium to XP is supported and you should not lose
anything, but a prudent person would still make a backup of essential data
before doing any installation of an operating system.
