Default Revert to prior release after upgrade of OE

Upgraded OE July 28, 2006 and do not like the format for the new OE. Is there
anyway I can turn back the clock on this one? If so, can I tell MS to never
do this to me again?

Was this a Windows Update? What is different? Is/was your OS XP/SP2? If it
is Templates, there is a fix. Please post back with more details.

Default Revert to prior release after upgrade of OE

It was a Windows update and just about everything changed from the ICON to an
added calendar, different procedures for retrieving new mail from the host,
automatic archiving done now, automatic deletion of read messages unless
saved in a new "follow up file", new format appearance for folders, the need
to send a message to an e-mail address before auto complete will activate...
I could go on, but you get the picture. Tried the web site Steve suggested
and this was for prior updates. Mine happened July 23 or there abouts.
Thanks

You didn't upgrade OE, you installed Outlook, perhaps by installing Office.
Outlook and Outlook Express are very different programs. You'll get more
knowledgeable help for Outlook in an Outlook newsgroup:

Frank, appreciate the info. I thought that might be the case, however, the
windows automatic update bubble informed me that I had an update to OE. When
I ran it, I got Outlook. Did not add any new programs or update office. Still
have the OE on my other computer because I refused the update. Is there
anyway I can go back to OE?

Updates to Office will often set Outlook as the default mail program. To
return to OE:

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm

Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.

If that isn't enough, see this article:
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098

You might also want to try this:

Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
For more information on Outlook see:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/defaultmailer.htm
