Just recently I bought a new Dell Computer with Windows XP installed and when
I receive an email in Outlook Express that contains a hyperlink, I click onto the hyperlink and nothing happens, it won't download to the website. Is there a setting somewhere I'm not finding that needs to be adjusted?? -- K. Christiansen |

Provided IE7 Beta is not installed:
From: http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm If nothing happens when you click a link: Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut) and select it. Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version. Select 'open'. Click Edit. "Application used to perform this action" should read: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.) DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have: #1: "%1",,-1,0,,,, #2 IExplore #3 (blank) #4 WWW_OpenURL URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same. Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "K-Bob" wrote in message ... Thanks for taking the time to respond. Bruce Hagen's reply solved my
problem. All I needed to do was uncheck the Use DDE box and that fixed it. Something so simple, but if you don't know where to look, your stuck, like I was. -- K. My brother is having a similar problem and the next time I go over there
I'll try this solution. However his does something a little different...When he clicks a link it opens Windows Explorer to C:\Documents and Settings/(his name). When you close it, IE opens to a blank page. This also happens whenever you open Windows Explorer or click on My Computer. Once you're done with it IE opens. He's running XP SP2, IE v7 and Firefox, and I think it's version 6 of OE. "K-Bob" wrote in message ... Thanks for taking the time to respond. Bruce Hagen's reply solved my problem. IE7 has a bug. Go to Control Panel | Programs | Set program access and
defaults and set OE default. That should fix it. steve "BluEyedDevil" wrote in message y.com... My brother is having a similar problem and the next time I go over there I'll try this solution. Thanks, that did it. Now how do I get rid of IE7? I went to the
"Add/Remove Programs" applet, as suggested by Frank Saunders in another newsgroup, but neither version of IE (v.7 or v.6) is listed. Nor is there a remove option on the Start menu like some programs have. "Steve Cochran" wrote in message ... IE7 has a bug.
