"Delete" button does not work

I tried to delete emails from the email folders but it doesn't work. I
click on the "delete" button on Outlook Express, I tried pressing the
"delete" button on the keyboard. However both ways doesn't work, the
email is still where it was and doesn't move to "deleted items" folder.

I tried dragging the email into "deleted items" folder, OE poped an
error message window with something like "Error processing request",
without any error code.

I can successfully delete emails within "deleted items" folder with
"delete" key on OE or on the keyboard.

If I create a folder inside "deleted items" folder, I can move messages
in that new folder.

I tried to compact folders but during compacting process, OE pooped an
error message "The folder is currently being used by another
application", I can choose "OK" or "Cancel" for response, if I choose
"OK", the compact process will continue. I just had OE running in my
WinXP sp2 and no other email fetching tools running at the background.
How can I make the "delete" button work again?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards,
Louis

Deleted Items is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and see where OE is
storing its data files.
Close OE.
Go to the store folder with Windows Explorer and delete Deleted Items.dbx.
With Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3 it will be a hidden file.
OE will build a new one when you reopen it.

If Deleted Items has messages you want to keep, instead of deleting it move
(not copy) it to an empty Windows folder. Then use DBXtract on the old
Deleted Items.dbx.
DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/
You can drag the recovered messages from the Windows folder back into an OE
folder in the Folder List in an open OE.

"Delete" button does not work

Move any messages from Deleted Items that you don't want permanently
deleted..
Tools, Options, Maintenance tab, Store Folder button, right click, Select
All, right click, copy.
Close OE.
Start, Run, right click, Paste.
OK
Delete Deleted Items.dbx. These are hidden files. Show hidden
and system folders must be selected under Folder Options.
Restart OE.
