ALL recipients to be listed in the bcc

Is there a setting somewhere in OE 6.0 that will allow
ALL recipients to be listed in the bcc? I.e., the "To:"
field is left empty. As it is, if I put all the recipient
addresses in the bcc field, I'll get an error message
complaining about the empty field.

The best bet is to put your own address in the To: field, & the others in
BCC:.

Your ISP may require an address in TO field but OE doesn't.

Hummmmmm! Right you are! My ISP mail server would not
accept an e-mail that only had an address in the bcc field.

I put my own address in the TO field and all the recipients in the BCC field
and it works perfectly.

Some SMTP mail servers require that the TO field have a valid e-mail
address (they shouldn't care, but they do). When you leave the TO field
empty, OE6 puts just "Undisclosed Recipients" there which may not
satisfy the mail server.

Suggestions on using a mailing list in Outlook Express (Windows):
- In the Address book select New Group, give it a name (e.g. Bob's
Mailing List BCC), and then use Select Members to add the desired
contacts to the group
- In the Address book select New Contact, give it a name (e.g. Bob's
Mailing List) and enter your own e-mail address
- When you want to send to the list, in the TO field select the "Bob's
Mailing List" entry and in the BCC field select the "Bob's Mailing List
BCC" group. Recipients will see "Bob's Mailing List" in the TO field
(which looks better than "Undisclosed Recipients" which sounds like
spam, and may get filtered out by some ISP anti-spam filters), they will
not see the name or address of any of the people in the list and you
will get a copy of the message.
(With OE5+ you have to check the option to View, All Headers in a Mail
composition window in order to see the BCC field.)
Note: Your ISP sets the limit for the number of names per group. If you
exceed their limit, they will refuse to send the message. Check with
them for their limit. Limits are typically in the 10 to 100 range, with
50 being fairly common.
