Default OE application error msimn.exe

I do not know what happened but all of a sudden, my OE email does not work.
XP, windows, all applications, and virus protection are all updated.

When I open OE, I get a message that there was an error and the program has
to shut down. When I hit Debug, the program shuts down. When I reopen, it
does the same thing.

I have tried to do what the FAQ suggests; however, I do not know anything
about a registry. I fear messing with that as I use my computer for business.

The Microsoft program error report includes:

Message to Microsoft includes:
AppName: msimn.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180
Offset: 00001010

I do not know what that means. Can anyone help me fix the problem?

Have you installed any third party tools recently, spam blocker, toolbars
etc if so remove them.

Rule out malware infection:

Get CWShredder and run it:

Review the information he

Get Spybot S&D, and Adaware, update and run both of those too.

Default OE application error msimn.exe

Thank you for the good websites, Mac. I went to them and did find a Win 32
bug, which Ad-Aware SE Personal removed. I also removed the recently
installed Yahoo toolbar.

Unfortunately, my OE is still coming up with an error message. If I scoot
it aside, I can do everything except send emails.

Your advice was really appreciated. If you have any more suggestions, I am
more than willing to try them.

Thank you for your time. It is rare to find someone who is so helpful.

The complete error message would be helpful.
Check your account settings and ensure that all the details of your ISP are
correct OEtoolsaccountsmailselect accountproperties.
Get back with the error message please.

Default OE application error msimn.exe

June 23, 2006
Hi Steve,

Thank you for your help. I appreciate your kind lesson on the proper
etiquette. It is probably very obvious that I an stumbling through this.

The only information I could find was
C:\\DOCUME~1\DONNA\LOCALS~1\Temp\63b4_appcompat.te xt.

AppName: msimn.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180
Offset: 00001010

The message says "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to
close. . ."

I have already tried http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid+813514; however,
either it did not work, or I did not understand everything.

I am going to the "better way to post a question" now to check things out.
I will also try the other 2 websites you recommended.

Once again, thank you.

Donna
