The reason I say copy to folder is someone previously posted when they were
downloading large numbers of huge files to combine and decode that OE generated errors. It was likely due to the fact that the dbx file got overloaded (OE doesn't do well with large files) and copying the messages to the folder prior to the combine and decode took care of the problem. steve "glamart" wrote in message ... I understand, but why bother - clicking combine/decode downloads the remaining segments and executes the combine. I was hoping that someone else had seen this problem and could tie it to a security patch or an interaction between OE and some other program. Thanks again for the ideas! -- "Steve Cochran" wrote in message ... It could be a size related thing. I don't really know exactly what you are doing. Once you highlight them to download them you can just right click on the selection and choose copy to folder. Its not that many mouseclicks. steve "glamart" wrote in message ... Thanks Steve - Copying all of the segments into a new folder does force the remaining segments to download, however, it takes extra mouse clicks. Any ideas why all segment message bodies do not sequentially download when they are selected? -- "Steve Cochran" wrote in message ... Try copying all the segments to a new local OE folder and if you can get them all in there, then try the combine and decode. steve "glamart" wrote in message ... F5 just deselects all of the segments and reloads headers, so no help. Thanks for the ideas Jim, if you can think of anything else, it will be appreciated. -- "Jim Pickering" wrote in message ... After selecting them, have you tried using the F5 key to force a refresh before beginning the combine/decode? It may take quite awhile to download all the parts, particularly with some graphic binaries. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. "glamart" wrote in message ... Outlook Express is set to download headers only until a message is selected. The problem is, when I sequentially select a number of segments to download, only about 2/3 actually download and the other 1/3, with random spacing, are not downloaded. All segments have been selected for download, e.g., all segments are highlighted and blocked, but random segments are not downloaded as expected. I can force the undownloaded segments to download by deselecting and reselecting those segments or just initiate the Combine/Decode action. So what I am trying to find out is why all segments selected for download are not all downloading as they once did? -- "Jim Pickering" wrote in message ... Before attempting the combine/decode you should ensure that all parts are downloaded. I suspect your settings at present are to download headers only. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. "glamart" wrote in message ... When downloading segmented files from a newsgroup, about 2/3 of the segments download, then, when the "combine" action is initiated, the remaining segments download. This is an aggravation and not a big problem but it would be nice to find the cause. This seems to have started occurring recently but not sure when. Any ideas will be appreciated. |
