Iam having xp os and outlook express 6. in this for some particular
mails problems comes while sending. The problem is after clicking the
send button, the out look express will not respond. and an error
message will come that outlook express has some serious problem and now
will close. do you want to report this to microsoft. Please help me

It's important to know the Details. When you get an "Illegal Operation"
or "encountered a problem" message, there is usually a Details button
(In WinME press Alt/D), or a "click here" link to see the error report.
When you click on the button/link, it will give a message like: XXXX
caused an error in YYYY and a bunch of register nonsense or it will list
the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The XXXX and YYYY are important to
identify the cause and solution. You can ignore the rest of the
message.

You say the problem is when sending some particular mails. Does that
mean that you can send most messages OK? Do the problem messages have
anything in common, such as containing attachments?

If you have an anti-virus program set to scan outgoing mail, turn that
feature off.

The Outbox is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance and see where OE is storing its files.
Close OE.
Go there with Windows Explorer and delete Outbox.dbx. With Win2K and WinXP
it will be a hidden file.
OE will create a new one when you reopen it.

If you think the Outbox may have messages you want to recover, instead of
deleting it, move, not copy, it to an empty Windows folder and then use
DBXtract to recover the messages.
