How do I get the images to pop up instead of the red X

Are you reading in HTML? Is Block Images checked in Tools | Options |
Security? Just click on the message bar above the e-mail in the Preview
Pane.

There are a few possibilities. Some are on the sender's end, and some may be
on your end.
