Default OE Assist for Wife

At age 90 wife is legally blind but retains some peripheral vision so MS
Office Shortcut Toolbar (Desktop) was set up with Write Message icon at
monitor top right corner so she could access for creating emails.

Have been using XP Home SP3 with OE and IE6; automatic update installed
IE8 a few days ago and created a mess which is now resolved with 2 hours
of free MS support to IE8 (good til December); long sad tale that
doesn't need retelling. Thankfully had Firefox which provided browser
access.

Have IE6 back (never lost OE) but am unable to recreate the Write
Message icon for inclusion on desktop toolbar. Opened Write Message form
from OE, saved to My Documents and then used Send To to create desktop
shortcut. (Have forgotten how I created original MS Toolbar icon which
functioned correctly until this debacle).

Works fine except .... the result is not the Write Message form but an
incoming message form showing From: our computer designator, constant
date/time from today, To: none, blank Subject: and empty text box. The
Reply Sender, Reply All and Forward icons are active but using any one
creates what appears to be a response from our OE.

Suggestions appreciated so wife can again create emails on her own.
Sorry for message length.
