Default Import all settings from recovered HDD

Maybe this can help, - maybe not.

Ok, but if I could access the registry is there a way to get the
account settings?

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 and www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

You cannot import the account information, as that is stored in the
registry, which is not easily accessible. So you need to search for
*.dbx (the files are hidden) on the old drive and then when you find
the directory of dbx files, then go to File | Import | Messages in OE
and point to that directory. That will get the messages back, but you
will have to set up the accounts anew.

The motherboard on my old PC has blown but the HDD is ok and can be

up to another PC. I would like to import all my OE6 mail and
accounts
settings from the recovered HDD onto OE6 on the other PC. Can anyone
point
me at a link that documents that process please. All my searches so
far
(which I admit have been hasty) are pointing at slightly different
processes.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks Steve, and for the other post. Had seen that method but am a bit
nervous about messing with the registry. Something about having to unload it
too!!

You can do a File | Load Hive in Regedit on the old NTUSER.DAT for that
particular user and then get to the appropriate registry keys (see
www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx) and then export them and modify them in Notepad
to match the current system and then merge those, which would give you the
account parameters, but it won't give you the passwords back. You might be
able to use PassSniff (search for something like that, its free, but I
forget the URL and exact name) to retrieve the passwords.
