Steve and Bruce, thank you, anyway.

My other story is,
I was so confident to proudly announce to my yahoogroups
that MSOE support *.mp3

Just try by yourself send your C:\Bla bla bla.mp3 to yourself
and open your email by MSOE.

Guess what? You can hear your *.mp3 on your speaker...

I am using Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180.
When I "Write Message" and then Format | Background | Sound...

The *.mp3 not send to the other email recipient.

On Properties | Message Source, I found something like this:

BGSOUND balance=3D0 volume=3D0 loop=3Dinfinite=20 src=3D"C:\Bla bla
bla.mp3"

It seem that the MSOE not converted the *.mp3 to the inline attachment.

Any suggestion?

TIA

You hear it because the original is on your machine. Got a friend you can
test with? Send it to them and see if they can hear it. If it is an MP3,
they shouldn't.

No, but you are running a very old and less secure version of XP / IE /
and OE. You have no patches installed since August, 2004, and support will
end for this XP version next month. Patch it with Service Pack 3 and the
available updates that follow and your machine will be supported until
April, 2014.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 here. Save it and then install it after
closing all other programs, and disabling your AV program and any spyware
or Malware programs you may have such as Windows Defender.

As Bruce indicated, its playing because its located on your hard drive. Close the message and move the mp3 file to another directory, then open the message again and you will see that it no longer plays.
