Why can't I separate my mailbox & calendar
 

This is more of a moan :( than a question as I see this all the time
(and I class myself as an end user here as I have no control over the
server side of things.)

In large corporates Mailbox size is necessarily restricted so people
use datafile PST's to keep their mail in (I know this is not correct but
it's a reality) However this means the calendering and more inportantly
mobile mail/calendar breaks as it is no longer on the server. :confused:


Mail is a user choice, either shrink it or move it. I personally
recieve on average more than 200 mails a day and 30% have largish
attachments :mad: and I am not a heavy user.

Most users then spend wasted time manually syncing back their calendars
so their free busy connector is up to date or buying an app to do this
for them and often getting themselves in a right mess.

If you could leave your calendar on line and just move your inbox to a
PST this would seem to solve so many problems.

And if someone knows how to do this let me know I coulld make a lot of
people very happy... :rolleyes:

You can move all the contents of an inbox to a local PST "Inbox" if you
wish, a rule can do that automatically.

Leave the delivery location as the mailbox and create a rule that moves only
those incoming items using the Messages form.

Apply this rule after the message arrives
uses the Messages form
on this machine only
move it to the Inbox folder

(where Inbox is a folder in a PST). Note that this is required to be a
client-only rule because your PST is local to the client. Outlook must be
running for this rule to work.
