How can you have multiple reminders for a single event?

I want to be able to enter an event date several months in the future, and
have multiple reminder dates before hand, say -30 days, - 14 days, -7 days,
etc.

Set your reminder for the longest time. When it comes up, do not dismiss it
but reset it for your next longest reminder, etc.

That's a very manual process with I do now for lack of a better tool, but it
is extremely prone to errors and mistakes, which is very bad for trial
lawyers. There is an add-in called "Important Dates" that makes the Outlook
Calendar work like other case management software, like Time Matters. However
I was not able to get this add-in to work because of the unexplained use of
Public Folders. Surely it would not be that difficult to add a table for
multiple reminders linked to a single event.

Actually, since there is one reminder set of properties for any item what
you want would require a complete rewrite of Outlook, Exchange and OWA as
well as a complete lack of backwards compatibility.
