I have a calendar that has information for three departments and I use the
categories tool to manage the meetings/appointments for each. I would like to be able to view only items categorized as orange and share that portion of the calendar with my orange department. In Outlook under Current View, I only have the option of viewing by category and then I'm presented with a Table view grouped by category. Other than taking the items and pulling them to a secondary calender, please let me know if there is a solution from with my calendar. Thanks! |

You can create custom Day/Week/Month views that show only the orange
category. Go into Define Views and create some new Day/Week/Month views. See http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/viewmenu.htm if you need help creating views. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: "Crystal" wrote in message ... While you can create views as Diane describes, I don't believe you can limit sharing to just those views. If you share the calendar with the Orange department so that they can see events, they'll be able to see the entire calendar. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Thanks for the response Diane and Brian. Brian is on track with my problem. I
only want to share the orange category. However, after I share it and adjust my view, then everyone can then see my entire calendar. Is there a way to only provide a live view of my orange items? Second possible solution: Is there a way to synchronize calendars? My Calendar gets updated all the time with around 40+ items that may get rescheduled several times as we map & remap out projects. I currently manually pull them over individually to the shared Orange calendar and then have to go through the Orange calendar each time there are changes to update the 40 items. It would be great if I could grab the orange category from My Calendar and sync it with my Orange calendar. That may resolve the issue of sharing my entire personal calendar. Hoping you have the answers.... Thanks! "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Crystal" wrote in message ... There are programs you can buy that will sync folders. Start he http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync-mail.asp -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

you can't prevent all of the items from being accessible - but a custom view
will make them less visible. outlook doesn't provide a way to sync calendars but you can use a utility. see http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync-mail.asp -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Let's Really Fix Outlook 2010 http://forums.slipstick.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34 "Crystal" wrote in message ...
