Why do I get an error when changing appointment information?

Whenever I try to change an appointment in my calendar I get this error: Only
the organizer can change the meeting subject, time or location!

These are appointments that I entered and did not invite any other
attendees. It is as if it does not recognize that I am the one who
originally entered the appointment. Please send any advice.
