Is there a way, preferably other than syncing, to open a shared Google
calendar in Outlook?

In OL2007 you can subscribe to an Internet calendar. That keeps the calendar
separate from other calendars. Look in the Tools menu Account settings

I've created a couple internet calenders in OL2007. These calenders are
pointed to a google .ics address. When I attempt to make changes to the
internet calender in OL2007, I'm prompted that 'you cannot make changes to
this read-only folder'. I don't think this is a setting on google, because i
can add/edit on the goog web interface. Is this an OL2007 feature to force
me to use their calender sharing?
