hello.
does anyone know why some meeting requests sent from Outlook, (depending on who has sent them - as most meeting requests show up as they should), might be showing up in my mailbox as ipm.post messages, rather than as meeting requests with the accept/decline buttons? (my mail comes through exchange server if that makes any difference?). thanks for your time |

I have a similar problem. I run 2007 and meeeting invites to a recipient
running 2003 do not show with accept/decline butttons. Do you know if your issue is also 2007/2003 related? hello
i did find this out about it when looking into it for work: The text below is edited from a microsft help article, (reference: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329931), which relates to the 'accept'/'decline' buttons being missing from meeting requests. Could you possibly read through it and follow the instructions in the RESOLUTION section: SYMPTOMS When you use Outlook 2002 to send a meeting request to another Outlook user, it may not be displayed correctly on the recipient's computer. Although the meeting request may arrive, it may not contain the Accept or Decline buttons, and it may not be recognized by Outlook as a valid meeting request. Back to the top CAUSE This issue may occur if the meeting request is not sent through a Microsoft Exchange server. By default, Outlook 2002 sends meeting request in the iCalendar format. This format is not transmitted correctly unless the message is transferred by an Exchange server. ************************************ RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, configure Outlook to send meeting requests in the vCalendar format: 1. Start Microsoft Outlook. 2. On the Tools menu, click Options. 3. Click the Preferences tab, and then click Calendar Options. 4. Click to clear the When sending meeting requests over the Internet, use iCalendar format check box if it is selected, and then click OK. ************************************ If you do not have the above options because of the outlook version you are using, you could try to send the meeting request in vcalendar format by: *************************** To Save an appointment in vCalendar format In Calendar, create or open the appointment you want to save. On the File menu, click Save As. Do one of the following: In the Save as type box, click vCalendar Format (*.vcs). *************************** (The above is taken/edited from microsoft outlook 2003 help). Once you have saved in vcalendar format you can then send it as normal. I think you said you are using 2003, in which case the second option is possiby going to be of more use to you. ---- don't know if its any use to you - couldn't really try it out, as the meeting requests which didn't work were coming from an external organisation and i didn't have access to their outlook accounts! my problem is i don't really know much about what ipm.post format is, i did read somewhere that it might be do to with if an organisation uses a custom form for their meeting requests - but i don't really know that much! thanks for your reply "JL" wrote: I have a similar problem.
