Default SharePoint Calendar vs Exchange User's Shared Calendar vs ExchangePublic Folder of Calendar Items

Hi,

I'm writing a piece of software that is supposed to allow any user to
manipulate the calendar of other users. The users will have Outlook
2003 or better, as well as Exchange. If there was enough benefit, we
could also require SharePoint Server.

My question is, what Microsoft calendar solution should I use? As I
see it we could use a SharePoint Server calendar, or the Shared
Calendar feature of individual Outlook/Exchange users, or an Exchange
Public Folder of calendar items. I would prefer COM access to the
calendar solution.

Are there any resources out there that can help me pick which one to
go with?

Thanks,
Jeff

Which calendar do your users use? Why will this application be manipulating
the calendar?

The most convenient for most users to use is the one in their mailbox - they
get reminders from it, it shows up on outlook today etc.
