Default Reminders crash Outlook

Whenever a reminder pops up for a calendar item, it crashes Outlook 2007.
(It also crashes IE if I'm using Outlook Web Access.) I'm using Vista and
have all the updates installed. I've run scanost and scanpst until all
errors were corrected. Problem persists. Suggestions?

I had the same problem. After searching the net for a long time, I finally found the solution at an MSDN forum.

Problem seems to be the following registry entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"msacm.voxacm160"="vct3216.acm"

Just change the name of that key from "msacm.voxacm160" to
"no.msacm.voxacm160" in order to disable it. That fixed it at least for me. Outlook does not crash anymore on dismissing reminders, and I do not have to disable the sound played for reminders (as suggested elsewhere).

You can automate this by importing a REG file with the following contents:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"msacm.voxacm160"=-
"no.msacm.voxacm160"="vct3216.acm"

Kind regards,

nobug

UPDATE: In my case, it seems to be another ACM codec in addition. After disabling the vct3216.acm (Voxware Metasound) the problem initially seemed to have gone. But after switching to another Outlook profile (Exchange) the problem reappeared. For now, I have disabled all ACM codecs with the Codec Tweak Tool, and the crashes now seem to have gone. Hope that it really fixed the crashes now.

Have you tried '/cleanreminders' & '/cleanfreebusy' commands?
These might solve your problem.
Try:
Start - Run - outlook /cleanreminders
Start - Run - outlook /cleanfreebusy.
The other reasons for the issue can be a corrupted reminder,Corrupted cache and Multiple data files etc.
